Michael Ireland, a portfolio manager at the Florida State Board of Administration, has left to join New York’s Capital Z Investment Partners as a vice president.
Ireland will focus on analysing and marketing private equity funds for the firm. He will report to Capital Z partner John Kim.
At the Florida board, based in Tallahassee, Ireland reported to senior portfolio manager Frank Fernandez, who is also the chairman of the Institutional Limited Partners Association, a trade group for limited partners.
The pension is currently accepting resumes to replace Ireland.
Ireland left Florida two weeks ago, according to a source.
Capital Z focuses on hedge funds as well as private equity. A separate division, Capital Z Financial Services Partners, invests directly in financial services companies, while Capital Z Investment Partners commits capital to and seeds managers of alternative investment funds.
