Friday Letter: Turn over a new leaf

Now as you mull your resolutions to be better human beings and to make more money for your investors, may we at PrivateEquityOnline take this opportunity to offer a short-cut to glory.

Forget the gym – take the stairs. Forget your work/life balance – you have spent the festive season in the bosom of your family. Forget the next deal – it will only mean a quicker return to fundraising.

Instead take a few minutes out of your schedule to respond to our online poll and help us determine whose resolutions came good last year by voting for our Global Private Equity Awards 2006.

It is our seventh annual poll, and it will deliver the results for the only awards for the industry that are voted on directly by the industry.

It is also the only poll that is genuinely global in coverage, with sections dedicated to Europe, North America and Asia. And, building on the success of their inclusion last year, there are awards for Africa and Latin America too.

The poll is unique in that it is totally independent. There is no sponsorship, no initial short list. We give you the categories, and you vote on those who you think stood out from the crowd in 2006. You only need to mark the card of the regions and categories most relevant to you and your firm.

So vote now instead of vetoing when it’s too late! And then make a resolution to get as many colleagues in the industry as possible to vote as well.

The poll stays open until 31 January 2007 and the results will be published on PEO and in our Annual Review 2006, which is released at the end of February.

Resolve to be a winner. Vote now.
