GPIF has appointed Neuberger Berman Alternatives Advisers, Neuberger Berman’s private equity arm, to manage its private equity investment strategy. The appointment is the result of a 2017 request for proposal to implement a multi-manager strategy for this asset class.

The ¥168.99 trillion ($1.59 trillion; €1.47 trillion) Japan-based public pension currently allocates 0.49% of its investment portfolio to alternative assets. This includes private equity, private real estate, and infrastructure.
