For one of the world’s largest private equity investors, comparatively little has been written about the composition of National Pension Service of Korea’s portfolio.
That’s because, like many of its Asian peers, the 883.6 trillion-won ($756 billion; €646 billion) institution historically disclosed only a fraction of this information.
However, this year the pension has begun to disclose investment details, such as fund names and investment amounts, to boost transparency. In its first annual disclosure on 11 August, NPS shared – in Korean – a wealth of information, including the strategic breakdown of its private equity portfolio and largest fund exposures, as of December 2020.
Here are some key data points to know about its enormous portfolio.
