LGT bolsters private equity team

Swiss asset management firm LGT Capital Partners has reinforced its private equity teams in New York, Hong Kong and Switzerland.

Swiss fund of funds manager LGT Capital Partners has strengthened its investment team with four senior hires.

Singaporean Andrew Kwee has been hired to head the US private equity office in New York. Kwee previously set up and managed the New York office of GIC Special Investments, the private equity arm of the Government of Singapore Investment Corporation.

The firm has also hired Canadian Doug Coulter to head its Asian private equity investments from the Hong Kong office. Coulter was formerly at the International Finance Corporation (World Bank Group) in Hong Kong and Washington.

Elsewhere, Jurg Burkhard has joined the Swiss office to manage the firm’s private equity portfolio and risk management activities. Burkhard, a Swiss national, previously worked for Zurich-based asset management firm Adveq, and before that at Ernst & Young and Credit Suisse.

The fourth appointment, also for the Swiss office, is Frenchman Alexandre Delos, who was previously an investment director at Paris-based fund-of-funds Access Capital Partners.

LGT Capital Partners, recently voted ‘Best fund-of-funds manager in Europe’ by readers of PEO, held a final close on its latest fund of funds in January. Crown European Private Equity closed at €609 million and will invest in European mid-market buyout funds.

LGT has more than $12 billion under management in private equity and hedge fund investments. It is headquartered in Switzerland but also has offices in New York, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Dublin.
