Littlejohn appoints new managing director

David Simon has become the Greenwich, Connecticut-based firm’s seventh managing director.

Greenwich, Connecticut-based Littlejohn & Co has promoted David Simon to be the firm’s seventh managing director, the firm said.

Simon came to Littlejohn in 2001 and became a partner in 2006. He joined the firm from New York-based Fenway Partners. He has also worked in the Financial Entrepreneurs Group of Smith Barney, where he advised private equity firms and their portfolio companies.

Angus Littlejohn founded the firm in 1996. It invests in distressed middle market companies and manages three investment funds with a total capital of approximately $1.4 billion.

The firm sold Paris-based specialty chemical s manufacturer Eliokem to French direct investment and fund of funds manager AXA Private Equity for approximately €130 million in September.
