RBPE buys Vickers units from Rolls Royce

The private equity group has acquired the precision engineering businesses from the aero engine specialists for £74m.

Royal Bank Private Equity [RBPE] is buying the majority of Rolls Royce’s Vickers Turbine Components unit that was part of its November 1999 acquisition of Vickers PLC. The company said it is retaining Ross Catherall Ceramics and Vickers Pressings.

The businesses sold supply precision-engineering products and services to the automotive, aerospace and industrial turbine industries.

“This agreement offers the best future for Vickers Turbine Components and enables Rolls-Royce to increase its focus on its core business,” said Rolls-Royce Finance Director Paul Heiden in a statement.

RBPE was quoted as saying that it saw both “acquisition and organic growth opportunities” in the deal.

“This transaction involves quality, internationally-focused businesses with a reputation for technical excellence and a blue chip customer and contact base”, said RBPE Regional Director Paul Isaacs.
