Royal Bank Private Equity adds to team

The private equity arm of The Royal Bank of Scotland has expanded with three new appointments.

The first new team member is Ian Beattie, who joins the Edinburgh office as finance director of the private equity division. Previously, Beattie was financial controller at Rothschild Asset Management, prior to that he was head of finance at Murray Johnson.

The second appointment is Scott Coates, who joins as an investment manager at the group’s London-office. Prior to this position he was an assistant director with Ernst & Young, where he worked as an advisor to the firm’s corporate finance group.

The final appointment is Freddie Lee who also joins the London office as an investment analyst. He comes from McKinsey & Co, where he worked as a business analyst covering sectors such as financial services, media and retail.

RBPE has invested more than £1bn since its re-launch at the end of 2000. The group has offices in London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham and Paris.
