Santa Barbara County Employees’ Retirement System has agreed to issue a request for proposal for a private equity consultant to manage its discretionary private equity allocation, as mentioned during its July 2020 retirement board meeting. The pension’s current private equity consultant, Hamilton Lane, is also invited to rebid. Given the current pandemic, the process will be conducted virtually.
As illustrated below, SBCERS currently allocates 9.9 percent of its investment portfolio to private equity. As of 30 June, the value of its private equity portfolio was approximately $312 million.
