Smartmission gains two new investors

Deutsche Post Ventures and European Webgroup have offered to bring logistical as well as financial support to healthcare website Smartmission.

Deutsche Post Ventures GmbH and European Webgroup, a subsidiary of Swiss private equity investors Partners Group, have invested in Smartmission AG, a company which provides e-commerce solutions for the healthcare industry.

Deutsche Post Ventures, the venture capital arm of Deutsche Post World Net will bring logistical skills as well as financial support to the company. European Webgroup offers financial investment and access to its HospiNet and Hospilogistik healthcare websites.

Having expanded its business in the year 2000, Smartmission provides a range of services for the healthcare industry including demand manage­ment to order placement, processing and logistics.

Dr Martin Fritsch, managing director of Deutsche Post Ventures, said: “The range of solutions offered by Smartmission and its customer base – encompassing hospitals, doctors' surgeries, medical products and the pharmaceutical industry – tie in perfectly with Deutsche Post's strengthening its position in the healthcare sector.”

Smartmission was set up in 1999 and employs around 50 staff. It has offices in the UK, France, the Benelux, Spain and Italy and is headquartered in Munich.
