Apollo, Crestview, Reverence to invest combined $240 mln in Venerable

Mill Road Capital to sell Go Veggie to GreenSpace Brands

GreenSpace Brands Inc said Dec. 20 that it agreed to buy Galaxy Nutritional Foods Inc, which owns the Go Veggie brand, for $17.8 million. Mill Road Capital is the seller. Go Veggie is a cheese alternative brand sold in grocery retailers and food chains in the United States. Financo Inc advised Galaxy and Mill Road.

Apollo, Crestview, Reverence Capital to buy Voya Insurance and Annuity

Voya Financial Inc said Dec. 21 that it agreed to sell Voya Insurance and Annuity Co, which includes its closed block variable annuity segment, to Apollo Global Management, Crestview Partners and Reverence Capital Partners. Athene Holding Ltd, in a separate release, said it will invest $75 million into Venable Holding, the company formed to buy Voya Insurance. Voya Financial said the transaction will result in about $1 billion of value. Goldman Sachs & Co LLC served as financial adviser to Voya, while Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP provided legal counsel.

Ares Private Credit Solutions raises $3.4 bln

Ares Management LP said Dec. 21 that its junior capital direct lending fund closed on $3.4 billion, exceeding its $2.5 billion target. About 60 percent of investors in Ares Private Credit Solutions are new. The pool targets the junior capital needs of upper middle market companies in North America and will invest in companies backed by PE sponsors.

Littlejohn sells GSE Holding to Groupe Solmax

Littlejohn & Co LLC said Dec. 20 that it closed its sale of GSE Holding Inc to Groupe Solmax Inc. Financial terms weren’t announced. GSE, of Houston, provides geosynthetic containment solutions for environmental protection and confinement applications. Littlejohn and SVPGlobal acquired GSE in 2014. Moelis & Co provided financial advice to GSE while Pepper Hamilton LLP served as legal adviser.

Gen Cap America exits Thomas Pipe & Supply

Gen Cap America Inc said Dec. 21 that it sold Thomas Pipe & Supply to Winsupply Inc. Financial terms weren’t announced. Thomas Pipe & Supply, of Phoenix, distributes pipe, valves and fittings (“PVF”) to the MRO and industrial markets.

SendBird raises $16 mln

SendBird said Dec. 19 that it raised $16 million during its Series A led by Shasta Ventures and August Capital. Existing investors Y Combinator and FundersClub also participated. SendBird, of Redwood City, California, provides chat API and messaging SDK for in-app chat and messaging.

Atlantic Street Capital buys Lori's Gifts

Atlantic Street Capital said Dec. 20 that it has acquired a majority stake in Lori’s Gifts. Financial terms weren’t announced. The Bernick family is the seller. Lori’s Gifts, of Carrollton, Texas, is a retailer of gift shops in hospitals.

Mosser named CEO at Coveris

Coveris said Dec. 20 that it named Jakob A. Mosser its CEO effective Jan. 8. Mosser will take over the CEO responsibilities from Interim CEO Dimitri Panayotopoulos, who will continue as chairman. Coveris is a portfolio company of Sun Capital Partners.
