Commvault to buy VC-backed Hedvig for $225 mln

Commvault has agreed to acquire Santa Clara, California-based Hedvig, an software-defined storage company, for a consideration of $225 million. Hedvig's backers include EDBI, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Atlantic Bridge Ventures, True Ventures and Vertex Ventures.

Silver Lake to invest $1 bln in Motorola Solutions

Silver Lake will make a $1 billion investment in Motorola Solutions, a provider of mission-critical communications, command center software and video security and analytics. Goldman Sachs provided financial advice to Motorola Solutions on the transaction with Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz serving as legal adviser. And, Simpson Thacher & Bartlett served as Silver Lake’s legal adviser.

Permira to back Axiom

Permira has agreed to make a "significant" investment in Axiom, a provider of specialized on-demand legal talent. No financial terms were disclosed. BofA Merrill Lynch and Barclays provided financial advice to Permira while Goldman Sachs did likewise for Axiom. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2019.

Fortissimo invests in Polytex

Fortissimo Capital has made an investment in Polytex Technologies, a developer and manufacturer of systems for garment management in hotels, healthcare institutions, fitness centers and manufacturing sites. No financial terms were disclosed. Also, Polytex has named Yariv Matzliach as CEO.

Luminate invests in Thought Industries

Luminate Capital Partners has made an investment in Boston-based Thought Industries, a provider of customer training and learning software solutions. No financial terms were disclosed.

StubHub process draws interest from Vivid Seats, KKR: Bloomberg

Vivid Seats and KKR are interested in StubHub, the ticket marketplace that Ebay has put up for sale, Bloomberg reported Sept. 3. Silver Lake is also considering bidding for StubHub, which could sell for about $3 billion, the story said.

Providence Strategic Growth buys I’Car Systems-DATAFIRST Group

Providence Strategic Growth, the growth arm of Providence Equity Partners, said Sept. 5 that it acquired I’Car Systems-DATAFIRST Group. Financial terms weren’t announced. Argos Wityu is the seller. I’Car Systems-DATAFIRST Group is a French software development company for automotive manufacturers and dealers.

VC-backed OpenGov buys ViewPoint

OpenGov said Sept. 5 that it acquired ViewPoint. Financial terms weren’t announced. ViewPoint provides multi-tenant SaaS software for permitting, licensing, and code enforcement operations. OpenGov is backed by venture capital firms including Andreessen Horowitz, 8VC, JC2 Ventures, Emerson Collective, and other top investors.

JLL-backed Xact Data buys Beyond IT

Xact Data Discovery, a portfolio company of JLL Partners, has acquired Beyond IT. Financial terms weren’t announced. Beyond IT, of Houston, is a cybersecurity and digital forensics company.

Palo Alto Networks to buy Zingbox

Palo Alto Networks said Sept. 4 that it agreed to buy Zingbox for $75 million. Zingbox, an IoT security company, has raised $31.94 million in venture funding, PitchBook said. Brandon C. Parris and Jessica Isokawa of Morrison & Foerster advised Palo Alto Networks.
