Courtside Ventures has launched and will invest $35 million in early stage technology and media companies with a focus on sports. Dan Gilbert, founder and chairman of Rock Ventures, Quicken Loans and a major owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers, was the anchor investor for Courtside. Other investors include WPP and Bruin Sports Capital.

AiCure said Monday it raised $12.25 million in funding led by New Leaf Venture Partners. Also participating were Pritzker Group Venture Capital, Tribeca Venture Partners, and Biomatics Capital, established by Boris Nikolic, former Chief Advisor for Science and Technology to Bill Gates. Koch Equity Development LLC, along with co-investors including Eaglehill Advisors LLC and MSD Capital LP, have acquired a minority stake in Trident Private Holdings III LC, a holding company of Transaction Network Services (TNS).
