Maryland State Retirement confirms $295m in commitments

The US public pension has backed four North American private equity funds.

Maryland State Retirement and Pension System has agreed to $295 million of commitments across four private equity vehicles, a contact at the pension informed Private Equity International.

The commitments comprise of $45 million to Longitude Venture Partners IV, $100 million to Lightspeed Global Opportunity Fund and $150 million across two funds managed by Leonard Green & Partners: $100 million to Green Equity Investors VIII and $50 million to Jade Equity Investors.

The $54.13 billion US public pension has a 13.0 percent target allocation to private equity that currently stands at 14.10 percent.

As illustrated below, Maryland State has made 14 commitments to 2019-vintage private equity commitments, which combined constitute over $1.2 billion.
