3i has hired Jim McLean as partner. He will be based in 3i’s California office to lead the firm’s US information technology practice.
His track record in the venture industry spans 20 years with experience at firms including global venture capital investors Accel Partners and ComVentures, and Highland Capital Partners, a firm focused on technologies.
The appointment follows the creation of a new team at 3i this week. The team, headed by Bruce Carnegie-Brown, former chief executive of insurer Marsh and head of JP Morgan Chase’s European debt capital markets business, will invest in European quoted companies, which may not be suited to an all-cash take private transaction.
