Babson boosts team

Babson Capital Management has bolstered its mezzanine and private equity group by hiring Vik Thadani, who will help to boost its coverage of the Asia-Pacific region.

Massachusetts-based Babson Capital Management has appointed Vik Thadani as a managing director in its mezzanine and private equity group. Thadani, who will be based in Babson’s Los Angeles office, will be tasked with supporting the firm’s strategy in the Asia-Pacific region, the firm said in a statement.

He will provide operational and transactional support to investment professionals in Sydney and Hong Kong, as well as supplementing sponsor coverage in the US, where he will help with deal sourcing, due diligence, execution and portfolio management activities, the firm said.

Thadani previously worked for the equity sponsor finance group at Union Bank of Californioa, CIBC World Markets’ leveraged finance group, and the mid-market loan syndications group at Bank of America. He also worked as chief financial officer of an education technology start-up.

Babson’s team manages $4.3 billion on behalf of its clients, which include Tower Square Capital Partners and its parent, Massachusetts Mutual life Insurance.
