Chicago-based Baird Capital has hired Andy Tse as a partner to lead its investment office in Asia, according to a company statement.
Tse will be based in Shanghai and is mainly responsible for pursuing investments in the technology and services sectors.
He was a former managing director of AIF Capital and has led investments in manufacturing, logistics, agri-business and infrastructure across Greater China, South Korea, South-East Asia, India, Sri Lanka and Australia. Before joining AIF Capital, he worked with Hopewell Holdings Limited and Consolidated Electric Power Asia Limited in Hong Kong where he was actively involved in managing their investments across Asia.
Commenting on his appointment, Tse said: “Lower middle market companies in Asia are looking for a financial partner with access to relationships and markets in Europe and North America, and I believe Baird Capital's global platform will be a significant differentiator for Asia entrepreneurs.”
Baird Capital, founded in 1989, is the direct private investment arm of investment bank Robert W. Baird & Co. Since 1989 the firm has invested in over 295 middle and lower-middle market companies specialising healthcare, technology and services and industrial solutions.
The firm launched Baird Capital Global Fund I in July 2016 with a target of $300 million, according to PEI data.
