Balderton, Advent back home-moving website

The European venture firms have backed website Balderton’s investment was driven in part by the memory of the stress of moving house.

Venture investors Balderton Capital and Advent Venture Partners have invested £3.4 million ($6.6 million; €4.6 million) in house-move planning website, according to a statement.

The funds will be used for product development, marketing and recruitment, the statement said.
The website has increased its registered users by 100 percent in the last six months up to 62,000.
Sean Seton-Rogers, a Balderton associate, said: “Each of us has experienced the hassle of moving home and wish had been around to help us.  We believe customers are going to love this free service that takes all the hassle away.”

Seton-Rogers has joined the board of directors, alongside Frédéric Court from Advent Ventures and Robin Klein from The Accelerator Group, a strategic advisory firm. is also backed by Brent Hoberman, co-founder of UK ticket website 
Last week Balderton, its former US parent Benchmark Capital and European venture firm Index Ventures sold MySQL, an open source database business, to IT firm Sun Microsystems for $1 billion (€692 million) generating around 10 times their original investment.
