Like many of its peers, Barclays Capital continues to build up its financial sponsors coverage.
The investment banking arm of Barclays Bank has appointed Ana Gay as an associate director joining the London based financial sponsors team. Her brief will be to manage Barclays' Spanish clients in this area.
Gay moves across from French rival Société Générale, where she last had responsibility for origination, structuring and syndication of leveraged and structured transactions in London. Prior to that, Gay worked in Madrid as a vice president responsible for syndication and structured finance.
Gay started her career in M&A, working for Chase Manhattan in London and New York.
Barclays Capital recently acted as joint arranger of the ?405m debt financing for the acquisition of Elf Antargaz, the LPG distribution arm of Elf Aquitaine, by Paribas Affaires Industrielles (PAI), one of the largest deals in the French market in the past 12 months.
The firm also arranged the SF235m senior and subordinated debt financing to support the acquisition of Soudronic, a manufacturer of specialized welding equipment, by private equity firms Gilde and Capvis.
