Blue Wolf appoints former GEC exec

The New York turnaround firm has recruited Bob Sharp from Gloucester Engineering as an operating partner.

Blue Wolf Capital Partners has tapped Bob Sharp as an operating partner. Sharp most recently served as the chief restructuring officer of Gloucester Engineering Corporation (GEC), a Blue Wolf portfolio company.

Prior to GEC, Sharp served as an operating principal for American Capital Strategies, where he provided guidance to portfolio companies across industries including consumer goods, transportation, chemicals, paper and printing and capital equipment. Prior to that, he was chief operating officer of specialty chemicals company Enthone.

“We were pleased when GEC selected him to lead the company's turnaround, and we were very impressed with his skill at resolving GEC's issues. Under his leadership, [GEC’s] labor agreements were renegotiated to provide much-needed flexibility, its facilities were reconfigured to improve efficiency, its order backlog increased and the company started hiring again,” said Michael Ranson, partner at Blue Wolf, in a statement.

Last year, US President Barack Obama named Joshua Gotbaum, an operating partner with Blue Wolf Capital, as director of the Pension Benefit Guarantee Corporation. The PBGC guarantees the defined benefit pensions of private employers in the US.
