CAM Private Equity has added former JPMorgan investor relations specialist Andrés Ebhardt as a partner in the hopes of enlarging the Cologne-based fund of funds limited partner base.
Ebhardt most recently worked in the private banking division of JPMorgan in Frankfurt, London and New York, where he was responsible for advising wealthy entrepreneurial families.
Ebhardt also has past experience in the funding and investor relations activities of Dresdner Kleinwort Capital, now part of Allianz Capital Partners, and was formerly a managing director of Co-INVESTOR, a Swiss investment company for high-net-worth individuals based in Zug. Prior to joining JPMorgan, Ebhardt worked more than ten years in Dresdner Bank’s corporate banking and investment participations unit, including three years as assistant to the chief executive.
Ebhardt’s appointment marks another illustration of CAM’s recent push towards broadening its international presence.
In August of 2007, a potential investor told PEO that CAM was talking to a number of North American pension funds and endowments looking to diversify its investments in Europe, and receiving an enthusiastic reception for a new European mid-market fund with a target of €250 million and a hard cap of €400 million.
The offering marked a departure for CAM, whose investor base has traditionally been drawn from German-speaking countries in Europe.
That same year, CAM also closed its fifth fund of funds for private investors on a record €115 million and launched a joint venture with US-based Newmarkets Partners to launch a flexible emerging markets fund of funds.
Along with the Cologne headquarters, the firm maintains offices in Munich, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Madrid and Greenwich, Connecticut.
