Citigroup hires Acanthus principal

Citigroup looks to boost its private equity placements team by hiring Laurent de Rosière from Acanthus Advisers, an advisory firm, and making up a hat trick of recent hires.

Citigroup’s private equity placements group has hired Laurent de Rosière from Acanthus Advisers, a London-based private equity advisory firm, where he was a principal from 2003.

In Europe, Citigroup has recently acted as advisor and placement agent to a number of private equity groups such as Charterhouse Capital, Gilde, Lion Capital and Terra Firma and is currently in the market with a number of other assignments.

Laurent will report to Doug Blagdon, global head of the private equity placements group, based in New York, and the European group head, Stephen Murphy, in London.

Laurent, who will be a vice president, is the latest recruit to the team over the last year.

John Crocker, managing director, joined from Capital Z Investment Partners. Before he worked as a partner in CSFB’s customised fund investment group. 

Catherine Heilman Strauven, a vice president, was previously with Merrill Lynch in London as a vice president in its private equity group. 

Citigroup’s private equity placements group now numbers 28.
