Crane Capital hires Japan specialist

Japanese private equity expert Simon Chadwick has been hired to strengthen the placement agent’s London office.

International placement specialist Crane Capital Associates has appointed Simon Chadwick as a partner in its UK office.

Based in London, Chadwick will be responsible for the company’s Japanese private fund placement business, providing full distribution coverage to Japanese institutional investors. He will also be responsible for leading due diligence on Japanese private equity and real estate managers.

Prior to joining Crane, Chadwick was managing partner of London and Tokyo-based Chikusei Partners, a private equity research and consulting business specialising in the Japanese private equity markets. Based in Japan, he advised Japanese and non-Japanese private equity funds on capital raising and business strategy, and co-published a series of Japanese private equity research reports with Mitsubishi Research Institute.

Chadwick’s private equity career began in 2000 when he was a principal at Schroder Finance Partners, a technology venture capital business founded by UK fund manager Schroders.

Crane Capital Associates has offices in London, New York, Toronto, Munich and Sydney. According to its website, the firm has a client list including Lexington Partners, Cinven, Doughty Hanson, Banexi Capital Partnerships, LGT Capital Partners, Paul Capital Partners, Europe Capital Partners, Newbury Ventures, Orchid Asia, Commonwealth Capital and Southeast Interactive.
