EQT bolsters car rack platform with US buy

Sweden’s EQT today announced an add-on to its sports utility transportation portfolio company, Thule, through a US acquisition.

Parent company Thule Holding AB, based in Malmo, Sweden, makes “load carrier” products such as car roof racks. The company will buy the Winslow, Maine-based C&C Distributors, which specializes in snowmobile trailers. C&C has 120 employees, according to a press release.

The combined company will be renamed Thule Trailers.

EQT, which invests in middle-market companies throughout Northern Europe, acquired Thule in 1999. The firm manages five funds and has capital commitments of more than €3.2 billion ($4.01 billion).

EQT recently acquired Sirona Group, a German dental equipment manufacturer, from Permira for €417.5 million.
