Firms fight it out for North American awards

Several firms are battling for PEI’s annual awards, including races for distressed investor, placement agent and top GP in Latin America. Polls close late Friday.

Firms are locked in tight battles for the North American Private Equity International annual awards, with winners and losers in several categories separated by only a few votes.

BTG Pactual, for example, is leading the pack for Firm of the Year in Latin America by a small margin, trailed closely by The Carlyle Group, Actis and Rio Bravo.

North American Distressed Investment Firm of the Year is another tense race, with Oaktree Capital Management out front with a small lead, followed by Apollo Global Management, Centerbridge Partners and GSO Capital Partners.

Also, Credit Suisse, UBS, Park Hill Group and Eaton Partners are all engaged in a viciously tight battle for North American Placement Agent of the Year. There is still time to help influence the outcomes of the races; polls close at midnight PST on Friday, 11 January.

The PEI Awards have grown to become the largest and most comprehensive in the private equity industry, honouring not only private equity firms, but service providers too.
