GEM Benelux snaps up KKR dealmaker

Thijs van Remmen, who was involved in KKR’s investment in Van Gansewinkel, has been hired as an investment director.

Gilde Equity Management has hired a deal maker from Kohlberg Kravis Roberts to boost its Benelux team.

Thijs van Remmen joined the firm recently as an investment director, according to a statement. Prior to GEM Benelux, Van Remmen was with KKR where he served as an associate for two years. He was based in London and worked on investments in the Benelux and the digital media sector.

He was involved in KKR’s investment in Fotolia, responsible for the management of KKR’s investment in Van Gansewinkel and the divestment of AVR, Van Gansewinkel’s energy from waste division.

Van Remmen previously worked at Goldman Sachs and strategy consultancy Roland Berger.

“We have known Thijs for a long time as he was engaged in a commercial due diligence process for us when he was with Roland Berger. Given his diverse and international background, Thijs will bring strong and complementary skills to our team,” Gerhard Nordemann, managing partner at GEM Benelux, said in a statement.

GEM Benelux focuses on mid-market companies based in the Benelux and typically invests in companies with an enterprise value of between €15 million and €150 million.
