HgCapital beefs up media coverage

Robin Lincoln quits Friends Ivory & Sime to join HgCapital's media team.

HgCapital, the private equity firm once known as Mercury Private Equity, has appointed Robin Lincoln as an Associate Director to its media team.

Lincoln joins from Friends Ivory & Sime Private Equity, where he spent two years focussing on the media sector and working on UK deals such as publishing company Atalink, 422 Video Graphics (post-production), Channel TV and Job Opportunities.

The new recruit will report to Nick Martin, leader of the media team, who said the firm regarded the sector as one of the largest and fastest-growing sectors in the European economy.

Middle-market oppotunities for private equity players were particularly attractive, HgCapital said in a statement. The firm launched its dedicated media unit to 'capitalise on change within the industry driven by privatisation, deregulation, growing consumer discretionary disposable income, business globalisation and radical technological developments in communications.'

Other industries close to home for HgCapital are healthcare, business services, IT and communications.
