Index Ventures raises $1.65bn

The Switzerland-headquartered fund manager closes its latest venture and growth vehicles.

Index Ventures has held a final close of Index Ventures Growth IV at $1 billion and Index Ventures IX at $650 million. Growth IV will invest in later stage and growth rounds, while Ventures IX is dedicated to startup investments. Both are expected to split their investments between the US and Europe.

The funds are backed by pension funds, endowments, funds of funds and non-profit organisations.

Index Venture’s previous growth and venture vehicles collectively raised around $1.25 billion, meaning an increase in fund sizes by $400 million.
