Investindustrial hires Italian principal

The Southern European private equity firm has hired former Citigroup and Morgan Grenfell Private Equity (MGPE) professional Dante Razzano as a principal.

Southern European mid-market buyout firm Investindustrial has hired Dante Razzano as a principal. He will be based at the firm’s office in Milan.

Razzano joins Investindustrial after having been one of the leading investment bankers and buyout investors in Italy for the past 15 years with both Citigroup and Morgan Grenfell Private Equity (MGPE). Razzano is also a non-executive director of Ducati Motor Holding, the MGPE portfolio company.

Razzano said he was pleased to be moving into private equity after a long period in large financial institutions. “In Southern Europe the action and the returns are in mid-market transactions. My long experience as an investment banker and a buyout investor leads me to believe that returns can only be realised by concentrating in that segment of the market.”

Investindustrial, formerly known as 21 Invest, takes control positions in industrially driven management buyouts and leveraged build-ups, principally in Italy and Spain. Founded in 1990, the firm is headed by Andrea Bonomi with offices in Milan, Madrid, London and Jersey.

The firm manages the €323 million ($411 million) private equity fund Investindustrial LP, co-sponsored by the Bonomi family and 21 Investimenti, founded and managed by Alessandro Benetton.
