Litorina grows team, opens in Gothenburg

The Nordic buyout firm continues to grow after closing its third fund last year.

Litorina Kapital, the Stockholm-based GP led by Harold Kaiser, has expanded its team and opened an office in Gothenburg.

The firm has recruited Lars Verneholt as a partner from Catella, a niche advisory firm. Verneholt previously worked at Carnegie, a Nordic-focussed investment bank, and Merrill Lynch, the global investment bank.

Litorina opened a Gothenburg office this month. Olof Cato, an investment manager at Litorina and a native Gothenburger, will head the office.

Verneholt’s appointment follows that of two associates: Magnus Hedman from UBS Investment Bank, and Joseph Ahlberg from Arthur D. Little, the management consultancy.

The firm closed its third fund on Skr1.38 billion (€148 million, $229 million) in September last year.

Kaiser said in a statement: “Irrespective of the economic climate, we believe Litorina’s positioning in the market and our focus on industrial value creation will continue to generate interesting business opportunities.”
