Montagu Private Equity has bolstered its investor relations team with the appointment of Melissa Lawton as an investor relations manager in London.
Lawton will be working with Vince O’Brien, Montagu’s investor relations director, “on all aspects of our investor relations and fundraising activities,” O’Brien wrote in an email.
Prior to Montagu, Lawton was an associate at Capital Dynamics, having joined the firm in August 2011, according to her LinkedIn page.
At Capital Dynamics, Lawton provided fundraising support and product marketing for the private equity co-investment and clean energy and infrastructure teams. “This included the development and execution of marketing strategy as well as the organisation of external fundraising activities,” according to her LinkedIn page.
Montagu declined to comment on whether Lawton’s hiring represents a replacement or new position at the firm.
Montagu has returned nearly €2.2 billion to investors in the last 1.5 years, PEI reported last month. In December, Montagu secured its ninth divestment in the last 18 months by netting a return of more than 2x on Emitel, a Polish radio and TV broadcast infrastructure operator. These nine exits, which include Host Europe, ghd, Hansen Protection, Unifeeder, ADB and BNS Medical, generated an average return of 2.5x.
Montagu is investing its fourth fund, a €2.55 billion 2010-vintage. It is unclear how much of the fund has been deployed. The firm’s most recent investment was the acquisition of financial services company Corporate Employee Financial Services International, which it acquired from UBS last month.
