NYSTRS approves $462m in commitments

The US public pension has backed four private equity funds.

New York State Teachers’ Retirement System (NYSTRS) closed $462 million worth of private equity commitments across March and April 2019, according to the pension’s April’s Board meeting materials. These commitments comprise of $150 million to Nautic Partners IX, €100million ($114 million) to Gilde Buy-Out Fund VI, $100 million to DCP Capital Partners I and £75 million ($98 million) to Inflexion Strategic Partners.

The $119.40 billion US public pension has a 8.0 percent target allocation to private equity that currently stands at 7.10 percent.

As illustrated in the charts below, NYSTRS has made several commitments to private equity funds with a 2018 or 2019 vintage, which combined constitute $3.33 billion.
