New York-based Power Capital Partners has hired Douglas C. Anderson as managing director and director of research and due diligence.
Prior to joining Power Capital, Anderson was at Enerkem and Agri Capital.
Anderson will focus on research and project due diligence and will also serve on the investment committee.
Power Capital was launched last October in a partnership with Hunt Capital Partners, a wholly owned subsidiary of Hunt Consolidated. Hunt is backing both entities to expand its energy business model. The executive management team includes co-founding managing partners Jeffrey S. Stein, K. Mitchell Posner, and Jeff D. Hunter. Power capital will pursue late state development investments in conventional and renewable power plants and related infrastructure in the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Europe.
The company recently entered a partnership with Bechtel Development Corp on the development of a 30 megawatt biomass power plant in New England, and is also in the market looking for similar projects. Similar firms are in the market with energy focused funds. Denham Capital has raised $3 billion for energy projects in 2012, and Riverstone Holdings raised $7.7 billion for energy investments.
