David Snow, Editor in Chief of PrivateEquityCentral.net and one of the industry's most seasoned commentators, is joining Private Equity International as Editor (Americas).
It's a bit of a cliché, but private equity, already a global business, is becoming more and more international. Many buyout and venture capital firms are already operating on more than one continent, and those whose business it is to raise money will routinely be traveling the world anyway. It seems appropriate, then, for an industry publication like Private Equity International to deliver as broad a geographic perspective as possible. To do this well, you need friends in far away places. And as a London-based publication, the first thing you need to make sure of is that you're properly plugged into America.
We've been fortunate in that ever since PEI launched in November 2001, David has been our man in New York, contributing regularly to the magazine. It's been a stimulating relationship already, and we are now extremely pleased that beginning with this issue, David and his team at PrivateEquityCentral.net are going to be even more closely involved in our editorial efforts going forward. Stepping up our cooperation has been made possible by an alliance between PEI's parent, Investoraccess, and PrivateEquityCentral.net, which is an affiliate of HedgeFund.net, a division of New York-based broker-dealer Links Securities LLC.
David is going to co-ordinate PEI's American coverage, and Simon Sheppard and Alex Stockham are joining our growing team of staff writers. To mark the occasion in this issue, David has written this month's Privately Speaking, after a heart-to-heart with one of the leading figures in US private equity: Blackstone's Stephen Schwarzman.
It's terrific news for the magazine, and a big step forward in our second year of covering the industry. We think it will give you more of what you have come to expect from us. I hope you agree.
