Qiming Venture Partners expands team

The Shanghai-based VC firm has made two new hires as it continues investing its $320m Fund II.

China-focused venture capital firm Qiming Venture Partners has hired Janet Yu and Chivas Lam as executive director and venture partner, respectively.

Yu was previously the general manager of fund investments for China Binhai New Area Venture Capital Guiding Fund. Lam, who will focus on investments in the clean technology sector, joins Qiming from Morgan Crucible, where he was president of the company’s carbon business for the Asia Pacific region.

Yu will be based in Beijing, while Lam will be based in Shanghai, the firm told sister site PEI Asia.

Qiming is currently investing from Qiming Venture Partners II, which closed on $320 million in May 2008. The firm primarily invests at the early stage, though it does selectively make growth and expansion capital investments as well.

Established in 2006, Qiming closed its maiden $200 million vehicle that same year and has made more than 30 investments since. The firm is an affiliate of Ignition Partners, a Seattle-based venture capital firm.
