Vestar hires IR head

New York-headquartered Vestar Capital has named Patrick Shattenkirk head of the firm’s investor relations.

Former Cogent managing director Patrick Shattenkirk has joined Vestar Capital Partners as a managing director and head of investor relations.

Shattenkirk has more than 25 years of experience in the financial services industry, most recently with secondary advisor specialist Cogent Partners, for which Shattenkirk helped establish a New York office and did liquidity advisory work. Prior to Cogent, Shattenkirk was a director in Duetsche Bank’s private equity group.

Vestar closed its fifth fund on $3.7 billion in January 2006 and currently manages more than $7 billion in capital.

Its most recent investment, announced earlier this month, was the acquisition of Huish Detergents, the largest North American manufacturer of private label laundry detergents and fabric softeners. Financial details were not disclosed.

Vestar typically targets companies in the US, Europe and Japan with valuations in the $100 million to $5 billion range. The 19-year old firm has offices in New York, Denver, Boston, Paris, Milan and Tokyo.
