Cathay Life Insurance has agreed to commit $30 million to KPS’s fifth special situation investment fund, KPS Special Situation Fund V.

The Taiwanese insurer is one of the first Asian investors committing to the fund, alongside Pennsylvania State Employees’ Retirement System, Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana and other US public pension funds.

As illustrated below, Cathay Life Insurance continues to explore global private equity opportunities. Its previous investment in distressed or special situation strategy was a $10 million commitment to Clearlake Capital Partners V.
