NYSTRS approves $675m in commitments

The US public pension has backed six private equity funds.

NYSTRS has agreed to commit up to $675 million to six private equity funds, according to the pension’s January Board meeting minutes. The commitments include $200 million to TSG8, $100 million to Hahn & Co III, $100 million to TCV X, $100 million to ABRY Partners IX, €88 million ($100 million) to Astorg VI and $75 million to ChrysCapital VIII. With the exception of TCV X, the funds leverage a buyout strategy.

The $119.9 billion US public pension has an 8.0 percent target allocation to private equity which currently stands at 7.1 percent.

As illustrated in the charts below, NYSTRS made 23 commitments to private equity funds in 2018 totalling $2.59 billion.
