SCRS approves $200m in commitments

The US public pension has backed three private equity funds following various strategies.

South Carolina Retirement System has agreed to commit $50 million to Horsley Bridge XIII Venture, $75 million to GoldenTree Loan Management II and $75 million to Brighton Park Capital Fund I, according to the December report on the pension’s website.

Horsley and Brighton Park are both venture capital funds, with Horsley being a fund of funds and GoldenTree following a mezzanine / debt strategy.

The $32.52 billion US public pension has a 7.40 percent target allocation to private equity that currently stands at 7.37 percent.

As illustrated below, SCRS has made seven commitments to private equity funds with a 2019 vintage, which combined constitute $902.5 million.
