SCRS approves $355m in commitments

The US public pension has committed to six private equity funds.

South Carolina Retirement System has confirmed $355 million-worth of commitments across six private equity vehicles between December 2020 and February 2021, according to minutes from the pension’s recent commission meeting.

SCRS committed $100 million to Aberdeen Standard US Private Equity IX and $50 million to Mill Point Capital Partners II in December of last year. Between January and February 2021, it committed a further $50 million to Peak Rock Capital Fund III, $30 million to Hillhouse Focused Growth Fund V, $25 million to GoldenTree Structured Products Fund VII and $100 million to KKR Asian Fund IV.

The $35.61 billion pension has a 7.6 percent current and target allocation to private equity.
