Teacher Retirement System of Texas invests $185m

The US public pension has backed two private equity vehicles.

The Teacher Retirement System of Texas made two private equity fund commitments in November 2018: $150 million was allocated to Paine Schwartz Food Chain Fund V and $35 million to Lightspeed SPV II. The Paine Schwartz fund invests in food and agribusiness, while the Lightspeed fund targets diversified sectors.

The $151 billion US public pension has a 13.0 percent target allocation to private equity that currently stands at 13.2 percent.
