Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois approves $218m in commitments

The US public pension has backed two North American buyout funds and another with a Western Europe focus.

Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois approved up to $218 million in private equity commitments at its March Board meeting, a contact at the pension informed Private Equity International. The commitments include €60 million ($68 million) to Astorg VII, $50 million to Siris Partners IV and $100 million to TSG Consumer Partners 8.

The $51.13 billion US public pension has a 15.0 percent target allocation to private equity that currently stands at 13.20 percent.

As illustrated below, the pension has made several commitments to private equity funds with a 2018 or 2019 vintage which combined constitute $488 million.
