TRS Illinois approves $305m in commitments

The US-based public pension unveiled five commitments following its December board meeting.

Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois has confirmed $305 million-worth of commitments across its private equity funds, according to its board of trustees meeting in early December.

Within the system’s $10.2 billion private equity portfolio, five commitments were made to different institutions: $25 million to Altaris Fund V, $150 million to Clearlake Capital VII, $30 million to LiveOak Venture Partners III, $75 million to Ridgemont Equity Partners IV and $25 million to Silver Lake Alpine II.

TRS has previously made commitments to all these institutions, with Silver Lake managing $714 million in TRS assets. Clearlake manages $508 million and Altaris manages $715 million. LiveOak and Ridgemont respectively manage $61 million and $50 million in TRS assets.

The $65.1 billion pension fund currently invests 15.7 percent in private equity, surpassing its target of 15 percent. The institution’s recent fund commitments have predominately focused on regions in North America.
