Virginia Retirement System approves $580m in commitments

The US public pension has backed five private equity funds.

Virginia Retirement System has agreed to commit $580 million to five private equity funds, a contact at the pension informed Private Equity International. The commitments comprise of $50 million to Scout Energy Partners V, $20 million to Advent Global Technology Strategic Advisors, $200 million to Trident VIII, $90 million to H.I.G. Middle Market LBO Fund III and $250 million to Apax X.

The $80.40 billion US public pension has a 15.0 percent target allocation to private equity that currently stands at 11.30 percent.

As illustrated in the charts below, Virginia Retirement System has made six commitments to private equity with a 2019 vintage, which combined constitute $935 million.
